At Rabbsfarm Primary School we believe that all children have the right to an education and are proud that everyone works together and contributes to the implementation of inclusion and empowering children’s learning. The Inclusion Team have a specific responsibility for strengthening the support in school for children with special educational needs and who are vulnerable.

I have worked at Rabbsfarm for many years and am a fully qualified teacher. Before becoming the Inclusion Manager, I used to have my own class. I taught classes across the school; there is not a phase I have not taught in.

Since becoming Inclusion Manager, I have undertaken many additional training courses; Reading Recovery, OCR Certificate in Specific Learning Difficulties, Certificate in Competence in Educational Testing to name a few.

As well as developing the Inclusion provision within Rabbsfarm, I also support other schools to develop their own inclusion provision, either through direct work with the school, or through offering to provide training courses and resources.

My role as the SENCo is to:

  • Support teachers to identify pupils who may have barriers to their learning and provide them with appropriate support so they can reach their full potential.
  • Support teachers and Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) with the planning of inclusive and appropriately differentiated learning, programmes and interventions to support pupils with special educational needs.
  • Monitor provision put in place and the progress pupils make towards their targets.
