The Importance of Volunteers at Rabbsfarm
At Rabbsfarm Primary School, we warmly welcome volunteers to support the work of the school. Volunteers at our school bring with them a range of skills and experience that can enhance the learning opportunities, achievement and enjoyment of children at our school.
The types of activities that Volunteers support and assist with include:
- Hearing children read
- Working with small groups of children
- Working alongside individual children
- Undertaking art and craft activities with children
- Accompanying school visits
- Who Is Responsible for Volunteers
Our Deputy Headteacher, Mrs Sexton, is the lead teacher for volunteers and will assess the suitability of anyone applying and the school’s requirements.
She will brief volunteers on the routines and structure of the school day as well as essential policies regarding health and safety, child protection and equalities.

How to Become a Volunteer
The school regularly receives offers of voluntary support however we are limited to the number of volunteers we can accommodate at one time. Anyone wishing to become a volunteer should complete the Volunteer expression of Interest form.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. As part of our commitment, we need to ensure that all potential employees and volunteers satisfy our employment checks. Please note that where appropriate, potential volunteers will be required to undertake further checks, including references, and will be required to provide a Disclosure form from the DBS.
